The Importance Of Having A Photographer On Your Wedding Day

Today I was thinking of the importance of having a photographer on your wedding day and thought of my mom’s wedding story. I could tell you myself but I thought it best to come from my mom herself.

My mom’s story in her words.

“Through tears and finally laughter I remember the first time my daughter asked me to see my wedding album. I teared up and told her I only had maybe two photos and they were buried in boxes of other photos of mine and your dad’s life together.

I loved my veil and my dress and that blue tux I picked for my groom that he somehow agreed to wear. I loved my blue cake with white flowers. But the photos of all this don’t exist. I also think of my mom in her chiffon dress my Dad in his tux. They’ve now both passed away. All the memories are still in my mind but they would have forever been here for me look back on and to share with my now growing family.

My brother had an impressive camera and offered to take our photos. He worked for the phone company but I could trust my brother with this right!? You have so many plans and details it seems perfect. I was anxious and excited to see all the photos from our amazing day only to be told by my very well meaning brother that he somehow had a bad photo taking day and you now only have about two photos.”

This story really touched me and showed how important it is to have a professional on your day. I take the time to learn my gear inside and out. I bring back up gear in case of a mishap. While I really cherish being a part of a wedding day it’s better to have an outside person there to capture your memories, that way your friends and your family can be fully present and can enjoy the day and celebrate beside you as it unfolds. And when the night comes to an end you know you soon will be able to sit down and relive the day when you look through the photos.

Here is me with my family last year!
