How to prepare for your dating profile portraits
So you’ve booked your dating profile portraits and would like to know how to prepare. These photos are all about putting your best face forward! Prior to your session, it’s great to get some self-care essentials. To me, this means getting a fresh haircut and treating yourself to some new outfits. There are things that can reflect your style but in an elevated way. Instead of a stretched-out hoodie, I prefer a jacket. This can be a light denim or linen coat in warmer weather or a heavier bomber jacket or trench in colder weather. If graphic t-shirts are your style, let’s try a new neutral t-shirt or a long-sleeved henley shirt with buttons.
It’s all about layering!
A great way to get variety is by layering. A T-shirt, cardigan, button-up lightweight shirt with a jacket can actually be multiple outfits. You can wear the T-shirt alone, the T-shirt with the button-up open, the T-shirt with the button-up and sweater, the T-shirt, and the jacket. and more! Bring enough variety and layers to get at least 6-8 unique looks. A change of shoes and a pair of jeans and trousers are also great to bring.
Make sure all clothing is wrinkle-free, put everything on hangers, and come to your session with them in a suit garment bag. You can even bring a roller suitcase and gently fold the garment bag inside. This keeps everything neat and easy to carry along the way during our session.
Bring a pet or something that reflects you.
Bringing your dog can be a great way to show your personality and what’s important to you. I myself love dogs and have three rescues of my own! I always require that you bring someone who can help handle your dog so we can take some portraits with and without.
Do you love to read, play cards, picnic, or play pickleball? Bring along something as a prop that can also be a conversation starter on your dating profile.
Keep your pockets empty and leave the sunglasses at home or in the car.
Please limit the items you bring to your session. We don’t want your pockets loaded with items, and we don’t want marks on your nose that sunglasses may leave.
